Hey guys,
I was planning on upgrading the RAM for my Macbook Pro to 8GB and I was looking at these chips: Amazon.com: Crucial CT2KIT51264BC1067 8GB 204-PIN PC3-8500 SODIMM DDR3 (4GBx2): Electronics
Its a nice price and I plan on buying them but I have a few questions. I have a 15 in Pro, 2.53 ghz processor with 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM. Now the chips I linked to don't appear to have 1066MHz frequency. Is it okay if I put in RAM that is a different frequency than in specified for the laptop? or does it matter?
I also found these: Amazon.com: Kingston Apple 8GB Kit (2x4GB Modules) 1066MHz DDR3 SODIMM iMac and Macbook Memory (KTA-MB1066K2/8G): Electronics It says they are 1066MHz which matches my current RAM but they're a bit more expensive than the Crucial ones. Or am I worrying for nothing?
