How to rename internal hard disk and get it to mount

Running 10.4.11 on an IMAC (PPC)
Internal hard disk will not mount
Booted from an external firewire drive
Internal hard disk using disk utility show as dis 0s3 but is grey'd
Click mount but 0s3 doesn't mount
Clicked FIRST AID, then VERIFY get error "invalid parent Cname in that record
Clicked REPAIR DISK
get error "Disk utility stopped repairing "disk 0s3" because the following error was encountered
The underlying task reported failure or exit
Tried resetting PRAM
Deceased the unit and reset the SMU
Tried the above again-same results

Tried using TERMIAL and entering the following command
"diskutil rename disk 0s3 MyDisk"
get error encountered renaming disk: Invalid request
tried "mount 0s3" in TERMINAL
got error "unknown special file or file system"

How do I rename hard disk & how do I get it to mount

How do I rename hard disk & how do I get it to mount

Probably by replacing it with a new one. It sure sounds like your hard drive has problems when Disk Utility can not repair it and it won't mount.
