- iMac (OS X v. 10.6.8), 3.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I accepted the automatic Mac OS upgrade to 10.6.8 this past week and since then all You-Tube videos I try to play with the Safari browser have a black window with no audio. This is true directly in You-Tube as well as in a You-Tube video embedded in Facebook. Also, videos from cnn.com exhibit the same behavior. I'm using an iMac 3.6 GHz Intel Core i5, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, ATI Radeon HD 5670, factory configured, nothing special. I run Adobe Flash CS5 (v. 11.0.0.485) and QuickTime Player (v. 10.0). Safari 5.1.
The problem only appears to be in the new version of Safari that came with the update. Firefox and Chrome play these videos fine.
