Yikes...you do know that the Duo 280c is from 1994!

Not much info to go on. Are you getting a flashing "question mark"? If so...the HD doesn't have an OS on it.

Depending what's going on (or not going on)...another possibility is the HD is dead.

It would help if you answered previously answered questions in this thread...and/or provide more info on what's happening.

Maybe you do, and maybe you don't need a new HD... but we should discuss things further before determining it's the HD.

In all honesty, I hope you didn't pay any more than $25 for that lot of PowerBooks. The 280c is pretty much useless for anything more than typing. The original storage on one of those was an EXTREMELY tiny 320MB HD, and the max operating system is OS 8.1. It's up to you wether you actually want to put any money into it. From the little info you gave, it could be a dead HD as Nick said.

This isn't really a forum for buying/selling things like Hard Drives, you'd be better off looking for one on Ebay, although it still may be hard to find.

Good luck. :)

Yes...that would have been a REALLY great detail to include in the original post...and not having a hard drive in it would certainly explain why you get a blank screen when trying to boot the computer.

Like MacDude121 recommended...e-Bay is probably your best option to sourcing a new (or used) hard drive for this computer.

Good luck,

- Nick
