Surely this is a question you should be asking the developers of Minecraft first??

Do you get an error message or something that signifies what the issue is?

Try deleting your bin folder. It's in " library > application support > minecraft".

Make sure you have Java installed. If you're using Lion, note that Java isn't included (like it is in Snow Leopard) so you'll need to go to the link in post #4 to get it.

It works 100% here, mods and everything.
Whatever is wrong, it should definitely work once you deleted the minecraft folder in the application support folder and install java correctly.

While I doubt the java version one can download from macupdate is any different from the version Apple has, I got my java version from them and as I said it's working perfectly.
Download Java for OS X Lion for Mac - Java installer for Lion. MacUpdate.com

EDIT: And if you don't have it already there is a new but somewhat unknown launcher up for download, so if you don't have it already then I would go and download it.

McYukon - agreed. Definately not a Lion issue. Had a constant struggle to prise my kids from Minecraft over the summer holidays. That's running on Snow Leopard and then Lion.

I'd definately go for the rip-it-up-and-start-again approach.

More info please:
Did you upgrade to Lion?
Did it just suddenly stop working?
Did you upgrade to the newest version (v1.8)?
