Possible solution!!
I have struggled with this problem for a couple of months now, and then i decided to try to fix it one more time.
This is what i did:
1. rightclick on the minecraft application
2. click on the second line from the top (i am using norwegian language on my iMac, so i am not sure what it's called in english)
3. open the "contents" folder
4. open the "resources" folder
5. open the "java" folder
6. Doubleclick on "MinecraftLauncher.jar"
It worked for me, but minecraft was lagging really bad so it was difficult to play.
