I'm looking for an external hard drive below 300 dollars usb or firewire with at least 800 mps transfer rate and a capacity between 150 gb and 300 gb.

And also, should I buy this or wait for the 60 gb 6th gen ipod?

You're never going to find anything for $300 that's going to transfer at 800mps. I take it you're looking for an ext. that has firewire 800 though. However if you really need fast transfer rates then you're better off getting an array.

Isn't the 5th Gen iPod the current one? Because it is different than the 4th Gen, by having the color screeeeeeeeen. Or are they making another one. 1st and 3rd Gen are still my fav.'s though. :black:

Western digital & Seagate drives are the only ones I have found that can hold up to the stresses of the road... But if it is just sitting on a desk Lacie drives are decent enough. I have had many Maxtors bite the dust.
