I just copied some files onto an external drive, iomega 500 gb.
I have macbook with 10.6.7.

The file folder name is there "Documents backup" but it shows up empty. When I recopy files into it, it tells me that its already there, and do I want to replace it?

I've copied hours of materials there. I hate to erase and restart.

How can I view these, or do I have to erase and start over?

Thanks!

It's possible the folder (Documents Backup) you copied to is hidden. To unhide files and folders in Finder do this: (Only if you're comfortable with using the Terminal)

First, open Terminal.

Type this command, then press enter:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

To allow the files to be shown, you must restart Finder. You can do this by holding the Option key, click and hold the Finder icon. When the context menu shows, select Relaunch.

Finder will now restart.

To hide files again, type:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE

and restart Finder.

You can also restart finder by using the following command from the terminal:

killall Finder

Make sure you hide all the files and folders again otherwise your Finder can become unwieldy and you'll see hidden files on your desktop.
