Stuck with white screen after changing hard drive MBP 15" 2007

Hi,

I don't know if is the right section I'm new to the site.

My hard drive broke and I decided to upgrade my MBP with a SSD one.

Reading on this website

I decided to go for this Kingston SSD V100 128GB SATA2 2.5inch Hard Drive

After mounting it in, what I get is a white screen with a folder and a question mark.

I have the Snow Leopard CD and because my CD reader is a bit faulty I have copied it on an external USB drive

When the computer boot I've tried pressing C with the disk, it just expel it.

I've tried with Option with CD or the USB drive and still question mark

When I try with Alt, still expel the CD or doesn't read the drive but instead of getting the question mark I can see and move the pointer around, but still white screen

I don't have a full back up, how can I get to Utility Disk to format the drive?

Did I buy the right drive? Someone was mentioning V and V+mine is V what is the difference?

Heeeelp! I'm stuck like this! what can I do??

You're getting the folder and question mark because your computer sees no OS. This means.. 1) your dvd drive is indeed either faulty, or your media is. 2) it's not seeing the USB image as bootable. 3) since the boot manager is built into the firmware, not a drive, it's loading correctly (the option/alt key boot) but has nothing to boot from.

When I try the usb disk on another mac, it works fine, it shows exactly the same as the original DVD.

I remember with the MBP before the intel one there was a problem on loading a bootable external USB harddrive and was working just with firewire ones.

Do you think is the same problem?

Where else I can try to access to Disk Utility from?

Do you think is worth a try connecting it to another mac trough firewire?
I've never done it before, does the other mac sees my internal drive as an external one?
