Hey guys, just updated to Lion and I hate the changed scroll direction!

I read that to change it I must go on "Scroll & Zoom tab" on trackpad preferences but there are not tabs on trackpad preferences.

It looks like I only have the "Point and click" tab.

How do I change it so I get the other tabs?

Not possible. There are three tabs. The first is Point & Click, then Scroll & Zoom and the last is More Gestures. If not then there's something terribly wrong.

Dude, I can't see a thing on that screen shot and I don't want to press my face to my monitor. How are you taking that screen cap exactly? Just do Shift Command +4 and take a shot of only that preference window please. Thanks.

OK, I got up from my chair and moved closer to the LCD because what I see is totally different from what I see on my version of Lion. That could be me though, because I'm using the Gold Dev build, but I was told it was the same as the release.

I've not looked into the preferences panel at work, but do believe they're the same as my version so IMO your version of Lion looks kind of weird to me. Are you using the version downloaded from the App store?

Yeah I'm using the App store version. If you right click the image and click view image, it will display it larger.

That's pretty interesting. I'm on the other MBP now, on Lion and here's what Trackpad preferences looks ilke on this end:

That looks like an older version of Trackpad. Are you running Lion?

Well, first off, 11A511 does not provide us a clue as to which MB you have since that is the build of Lion that is installed.

I have the same old Trackpad preferences... and yes, in Lion.

The trackpad on my MBP only recognizes up to 2 fingers. Hence, no options.
No pinch to zoom, no 3 or 4 finger swipes. The trackpad just flat out does not support it. Therefore, those options do not exist.

For the op, if yours is the unibody aluminum 5,1, then you should have those options. If you have the white plastic 5,2 from '09, it only supports 2 fingers. And like me, you're just out of luck. Sorry...

This can be verified at everymac. They do provide a trackpad listing that will show the features of your particular trackpad.

Oh, I almost forgot your question - changing the scroll function - look at the very top checkbox on your trackpad preferences - uncheck it. I had to look in there a half dozen times before I saw it also. If it'd been a snake... ;D

Same old preference pane

This is interesting - I downloaded Lion, and bought a brand new Apple trackpad to go with it. (MacPro 2x2.66 Dual Core Intel)

Searching these threads because I can do little else than move the cursor around the screen - no clicks, drags or scrolling, but one finger clicking on the desktop brings up the (left-click-like) contextual menu, so the trackpad works.

I have the same old-style single preferences pane - two sliders at the top, and no tabs for second or third panels! Although I have tried switching things off an on, nothing makes any difference to the trackpad!

Help! Have I got a Leopard in Lions clothing?

Here's a screenshot.

As it turns out, it's the top check box that will return the scroll to normal if you are using a mouse. My Macbook has the exact same screen. Apparently it's different screens based on the model of Mac you have.

If you haven't figured it out yet...

You uncheck where the red arrow is pointing. ^_^"

Yep. That was what I had to uncheck on the MB. The iMac was easy... no trackpad to mess with. Mouse preferences has the same option to uncheck.
