The new MacBook Air and the new Mac Mini have an updated Bluetooth Specification named Bluetooth 4.0

Currently the MacBook Pro and iMac are still using Bluetooth Specification 2.1.

I am ready to order a new 15" MacBook Pro and wondered if I should wait a few weeks to see if Apple updates the MacBook Pro and iMacs to the new Bluetooth Spec?

Opinions?

Doubt the Macbook Pro or iMac will be updated in the next few weeks. The iMac just had a refresh recently.

How much do you really use bluetooth and what benefits are you expecting to see by waiting for 4.0?

AirDrop

The thinking behind my question was in regards to what could become a very useful feature "AirDrop". Will it be able to use Bluetooth to transfer files between computers and if so would it not be faster to have the upgraded Bluetooth specification?

AirDrop uses peer to peer Wi-Fi and has nothing to do with Bluetooth.

Thanks

Thanks for the clarification Bob.
I don't need to worry about it then.
