Issue with upgrade

Hi, sorry I'm not all up on the update... Anyway with that being said I didn't realize that the update to Lion would screw up my access to office and I need it, I can't afford to upgrade it, however, I was wondering if it would be possible to use the Snow Leopard disk and reinstall over Lion and go backwards, I'm a student and I need office and didn't realize this would happen. Thanks for any help!

I'm going to take it you have Office 04, as the only issue I know of for 08 is the installer.. and 11 is intel native on all levels. You can absolutely clean install Snow Leopard, then restore your data from back up.

Actually there are more pieces of Office 2008 that are not compatible in addition to the installer. I went thru them the other day and found at least three parts that will no longer work including - of all things - the Excel file converter (converting from older versions of Excel).
