Downloaded Lion and it installed fine but now realize most of the apps I use everyday are not compatible. Anyone know how to uninstall or go back to 10.6.8? Nothing posted on Apple support. I tried restoring my last Time Machine backup before the upgrade ... no good. Tried installing Snow Leopard from my disc ... wouldn't accept. Tried switching startup disc to Snow Leopard CD and restarting ... no good. I have a new iMac with wireless keyboard and mouse. That seems to create a problem of holding down a key while I restart. Any suggestions?

You may have to format your drive from your SL DVD, install, then use the migration assistant.

jag nailed it. Got a usb keyboard you can plug in to hold the c key at start up? That's what you're gonna need to do. you can grab a cheap one from best buy for 20 bucks then return it within 30 days...

when the imac starts it's looking for a keyboard, if your keyboard is in discoverable mode the keys should world while booting

and when you get to the install dvd, you'll have to use Disk Utility to erase the disk before you install.

Oh, you have GOT to be kidding with this question...???

For starters, both NeoOffice and OpenOffice are pretty much useless, especially when you throw in the extra complication of Southeast Asian language scripts...mind you, this was all working just fine in Leopard and Snow Leopard...

He was just asking a question.

If open office and neooffice nko longer work, it's the programmers if those two apps that need ti get busy and get ian upadate done.

MS Office 04 doesn't work with it either. No PPC application does. There's no need for it. Snow Leopard had Rosetta... why can't Lion? Yeah the upgrade only cost $29, but then you have to buy MS Office all over again... that's quite a hidden cost!

Way... way too many specs to list.
Because continuing to support legacy code becomes an ever increasing nightmare. It's not Apples fault your software's old, and didn't check compatibility sites.

Because Apple switched from PPC around 5 years ago. I see no reason that Apple needs to continue to support outdated software in a modern OS.

If you need to use outdated software, you can continue to use the older OS that supports it.

I mean Office 2004 is 7 years old now and there have been 2 full releases since then.

True, but it still amazes me that something out only that long is considered ancient!

It's always been that way when talking about technology. Two years old is ancient.
