Got a fairly new Macbook Pro and when typing in a website, it takes forever to get to it. Is there any thing I can do to make it faster?? I don't have much on that would be taking up space. Thanks.

Seems more like a Network/Connection issue. Doesn't have to do anything with how much space you have on your HDD.

Apple since 1982, now: iMac 2.5 ghz, 500 HD, sandy bridge
Yeah... Its your ISP. As a comparison, I'm typing now on a 2002 Powerbook 800, and since my ISP is pretty fast, there's very little hold up in getting stuff except video.

I have a 2011 MBP connected wirelessly to a Verizon FiOS internet connection (25 Mb download speed) and almost everything I do is instantaneous

Way... way too many specs to list.
Could be bad DNS servers. Try using a public DNS, like googles

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

i seem to have a similar problem. it may take a minute or two to load a webpage. it is the same whether i use safari or firefox. sometimes it loads fine, other times it is very slow. i really have no idea what i am doing when it comes to changing servers. i am not even sure if i have ipv4 or ipv6. any suggestions would be great.

See post #6 right above yours. System Preferences, Network, Advanced. Click on the DNS tab. Add the two servers given in post #6.

i have completed this and it didn't seem to help much. it still seems to load webpages for 15 or so seconds to a minute. many times it won't load a whole youtube video. it may get 1/2 way through the video and then stop. my IP address and service is through mediacom, if that matters.

my internet speed is only 3mbps. however, i had this same speed through at&t and i did not have any of these delays and slow loading of webpages. it would download a youtube song fast enough such that i could click on the song and hit play and it would go. now, it will stop 10-15 times per song as it downloads. any other suggestions would be great.

btw, everything else on my computer is running fine, it is just loading webpages that takes way too long. i have clamxav and onyx. everything looks good with these.

Settings>Network>Advanced>DNS>"+" (button) and then type these two number sequences in:
