I have a 2 month old G5 iMac 2ghz 17 inh with the standard 512mb as shipped. I am thinking ofupgrading the Ram. The question I have is is my iMac currently fitted with 1 512meg module of 2 256 meg modules.

Thanks

Your iMac should have 1 X 512 MB stick in it.

The easiest way to be sure is to open the system profiler which is in utilities section of the applications folder and in there you will find the info on your RAM etc.

An alternative method is to open up the back and take a look.

Hope this helps

One more question - Do the modules need to be the same size?

If you are asking if they need to be paired or not, the answer is no.
There are only two slots in the iMac, you do not need to pair the RAM.

Ok, but can they be different sizes - one 512 and one 1 gig for example?
