I am new to Macs as a whole, so please forgive me if this is an obvious fix. Just today, my iMac started making a typewriter sound every time I hit the shift key and an arrow appears at the top of the screen then fades away. What the heck is this and how do I make it go away? It's driving me crazy!

Thanks!

You have the "Sticky Keys" option enabled in the Universal Access preference pane, found in System Preferences.
