Clicking hard drive with another year+ of Apple Care to go. Would Geniuses replace this hard drive just becomes it makes clicking noises, but else seems to work. How bad does the drive have to show failure before Apple will replace it?

Depends if it is failing or otherwise as some drives are noisy. Download SMARTReporter and see what it has to say about the hard, and what does SMART Status say in Disk Utility? Verified or not?

Never used that program before.

I have been accused of saying too much on forums. I have used Onyx and it says that the drive is OK. Someone in local tech shop said that the clicking meant the drive would fail sooner, and the S.M.A.R.T. might not ever show an error, or it might.

The only symptom is "just clicking."

Thank you for replying.

purple did you check S.M.A.R.T. Status in Disk Utility? Click on the drive and check it out. If it says verified as well as SMARTReporter saying all is good, sounds okay. May well be the head parking operation:-
