There are free apps such as Libre Office and NeoOffice. They are similar to MS Office, but don't expect exact replica.
To get the actual MS Office Suite (or any of it's apps) you must pay for them. Any free online downloads are most-likely illegal.

If you want the best Office suite go and buy Office 2011 if your Mac is an Intel model. Remember you get what you pay for when it comes to quality.

Is anything else sold that people want to find out if they can get for free? Why are people so reluctant to pay for software? We all need a way to support ourselves (and for those with kids, their children) and this includes people that develop, market and sell software. Why is that such a perplexing concept?

Skip Open Office and use Libre Office if need be.

Office 2011 can be purchased inexpensively in it's home variation. I think if people can afford a Mac, they should be able to afford legal software for it. iWork is cheaper still.

If you're a student, always check first in your school bookstore. Microsoft Office is usually discounted in school bookstores. I've seen it reduced 50% or more depending on which school bookstore sells it.

It's also reduced 50% or more in military exchanges. Of course you must be eligible to shop there.
