McDonald's to give away up to 1 billion iTunes songs?
November 6, 2003 - 08:11 EST A story appearing in today's New York Post claims that McDonald's is close to announcing a deal with Apple, whereby the fast food giant will give away up to 1 billion songs from the iTunes Music Store. Pepsi and Apple recently announced a deal with Apple to give away 100 million songs to customers. According to The Post, both Pepsi and McDonald's are paying Apple's regular retail price of 99 cents for each song. The article notes that "a spokesperson for Apple declined comment, and a representative of McDonald's was unavailable for comment."

My Comments: Pepsi I don't drink.. McDonalds I don't eat there.. come on people.. how about giving away iTunes music with something that is remotely a bit healthy!

McDonald's: No iTunes deal to announce
November 6, 2003 - 13:09 EST* McDonald's has responded to a published report that it plans a massive digital song giveaway promotion with Apple, calling it "pure speculation." Today's New York Post claims that McDonald's is close to announcing a deal with Apple, whereby the fast food giant will give away up to 1 billion songs from the iTunes Music Store. "There are no agreements to announce, so anything else is pure speculation," the company said.

My Comments: Yeah no agreements to announce because there have been no agreements.. yet! They definitely did not say that they were not talking to Apple though.. Interesting they even commented at all with that comment.

McDonald's and iTunes Giveaway... True?

Yesterday's New York Post rumor about McDonald's Billion Song iTunes giveaway created a lot of interest in the Mac community.

While many felt that McDonald's subsequent statement implied denial, their statement simply reported that there were "no agreements to announce".

MacRumors has since received confirmation that McDonald's is, in fact, planning the iTunes giveaway, but no further details of the promotion have been obtained.

Will it be like the McDonald's Monopoly game? Pull a piece off of your frenchfries and get a code to enter and download a free song?
