Good morning. I found out that the folder i was using for my downloads deleted without me doing anything. How is this possible? I am the only user of my IMAC and i didn't do it.I searched in my imac but i didn't find my downloads folder the folder was deleted or moved to an external hard drive(not by me) because my hard drive was freed 100gb of space exactly the size of my downloads folder. Is there a way to see the activity history from my imac in order to see what have happened? Thanks in advance.

IMAC 21,5''
OSX 10.6.8

Well, someone did something. And why exactly was there 100GB of stuff in the downloads folder?

Did you look in your home folder?
Did you look in the trash?
Or do you mean it is only gone from the dock?
Is it still on the sidebar when you open Finder?

I looked everywhere but i can't find them, the strange thing is that the downloads folder is there (on the dock) but it's empty. I checked also in the trash but nothing. I really don't know what else to do or another place to look for them.

I searched everywhere (including trash, home folder etc) but with no luck. The other strange thing is that the downloads folder is on the dock but empty. I don't know where else should i look for them. The size of my downloads folder was 100gb because i was saving everything that i was downloading from the internet in that folder (movies, music etc)

So, your Downloads folder is still there and you can right click on it in the dock, select Open and it opens? And only the stuff that was inside of it is gone?

Don't know what to tell you except, if you want to retrieve them, I'd suggest you stop using your computer NOW. The more you use it, the more of that may be overwritten causing it to be harder/impossible to retrieve. And then invest in something like Data Rescue 3 or just restore it all from your backup.

(And probably start storing your music and movies in your music and movies folders instead of the downloads folder - only a suggestion.)

With terminal - I do what I need on my own systems but wouldn't dream of making suggestions to others. I gave up the command line as much as I've been able to ever since Win 3.1 came out.
