Hi all,

I have a MBP 17" 2.4ghz with 4BG of ram. Apple model A1229. It is still running OSX 10.4.11

I need to wipe the computer clean but can't find my original CDs. Since it desperately needs a software update anyways, i figured I'd just do both together.

Here is the question, what would be the best OS to run on it?

Since Lion should be out soon, I'm considering waiting but I also don't want to end up with an OS that is too much for the computer. Also, would I have to go through 10.5/10.6 before getting to Lion?

What would you run?

Thanks

Andrea

Purchase Snow Leopard now for $29.00 from the Apple store or online, install and then update to OS X.6.8 and later this week, or next, download Lion, OS X.7 the new operating system. You will need Snow Leopard installed to upgrade to Lion. If Snow Leopard goes the same way as Leopard, prices will soar when Apple no longer has copies for sale.

Keep the Tiger CD when you find it for the PowerBook.
