Hello All,

I just recently purchased a used G5 iMac 20' iSight, and initially it seemed to be working perfectly, then I tried to restart it.

It works great when it's on, but as soon as I need to restart the machine, it will not boot. It tries to, the white power light comes on very briefly, and the Mac chime noise goes off but then it just dies. Nothing comes on the screen, it never gets that far, but if I wait long enough (generally 1 to 1.5 hours) it will then come on just fine. It seems that the longer I wait, the further it gets close to booting, which is odd.

What could be going on here, I've been researching a bit, but haven't come across anyone with this exact problem yet. I know there were logic board issues, and I've read about resetting the SMU, could that help with this? RAM maybe? Power Supply?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I don't know that much about the G5 iMac but from what has been posted in these forums, you may be looking at a failing power supply. However, someone else may more insight, so hang on.
