I want to use find my iphone on my 3gs, i understand you can register through a newer device like an ipad and then the 3gs will work on mobile me. Is this true.
The problem is i only own an iphone, but my cousin owns an ipad, could i register with mobile me on it, then onto my iphone?

i have the app also on my 3gs but then you need to sign in, so i type in the details, then it says apple id not verified. So i need to activate the mobile me account.

I go there type in the stuff agian, then it says the apple id is vaid, but the device is not supported. But from what i read its possible to set up mobile me on an ipad and then sign into it on the 3gs, is this possible. I set up mobile me on my cousins ipad if i had the chance.

Apple is not taking any new MobileMe subscriptions.

The "free" 'Find my iPhone' service only works on iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4th gen running iOS 4.2 or later.

According to Apple, even if you sign up for it on one of the above devices, it will still only work on other of these same iDevices.

Check out their faq.

And I'm wondering now, since I have a MobileMe account and I do have FindMyPhone on my 3GS, if that is going to be disabled when they shut down the MobileMe services next year?

Apple is moving the "Find My iPhone" service to iCloud. It should still work on the 3Gs once updated to iOS 5. I forgot they weren't taking any new registrations at all. This transitional period is ridiculous. They shouldn't have outright stopped letting people register a MobileMe account. Existing ones still work, and will for another year. They could have at least let people continue registering and limited them to the services that will be migrated.

Yes, but they are discontinuing it and switching to iCloud, which will have free services, including email, wireless syncing, and more. Extra features and storage space beyond 5 GB will be available for a cost.
