Upgrading 2009 macbook to 750GB

Hi. I have an early 2009 Macbook white core 2 duo (2.1Ghz, intel graphics chip).

Shortly after buying it I upgraded the RAM to 4GB and the HDD to 320GB. No problems to report. However, space is running thing again and I want to be comfortable for when Lion arrives.

I had been looking at a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 750GB. However, I've heard that some people have been complaining that there have been issues with this HDD. It seems that this is related to the Nvidia chipset but I just want to be sure that there wouldn't be any problems making such an update to my laptop.

I haven't heard of any issues with that particular drive and I can't imagine why any hard drive would impact on the graphics chipset.

If you're worried about it, select another drive. You can use any drive in your MacBook that is SATA, 2.5" wide, and not more than 9.5mm thick. I usually shop for my hard drives and memory from the folks at Other World Computing. They're Mac specialists and have a wide selection to choose from. Here is the LINK.

Hi chscag! Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I would need something that could be shipped to the UK. However, I see that they have the 7200RPM version of that HDD so I would guess that the 5400RPM should work as well.

OWC does ship outside of the US. Many of our Australian members have ordered memory and other items from them. I don't know what the cost would be compared to what you could purchase the same items for in the UK. You might take a look on amazon.com.uk and compare.

Well, I thought I should follow up on this just in case it is of any use for someone in the future. Both the WD 750GB 5400RPM drive and it worked perfectly. No problems to report.
