• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Im trying to create a video in imovie and add a song at the beginning. I edited the song in itunes under "get info" so that it starts at 2:10 and ends at 3:00. It plays the edited way when i play it in itunes and even in the itunes section in imovie but when i drag it over to the beginning on my movie and press play, the song starts from the beginning of the original version.. What the heck?!

I believe the "edited" version is only played that way within iTunes.

Open the original file of the song, duplicate it, and then open and trim it in Quicktime Player. Save the trimmed version and add it to your iTunes library (or put it into a folder and import it from there).

Editing music in imovie

If you have the latest version of imovie you should be able to edit the track in imovie itself. Just drag the song into the edit and use the new track tirmmer (I think its called.) You can trim the start and end of the track.

Or put the mouse over the start/end of the music track until it turns into a short vertical black line. You can then drag the start/end of the track to where you want it.
