I'm accessing a friends Mac remotely using logmein to help set up a few things.

He has a 2 TB time capsule as the wireless router and connected to a modem.
I can browse the device on the Mac in Finder.
The Mac is currently backing up with time machine on the hour no problem.
I can browse the backup files on the time capsule.
But when I try to open time machine, nothing happens.

I have tried changing the time machine to no drive and then back to the time capsule, but I still get no response from time machine when I try to open it.

A restart of the device has no effect.

I can see and configure the device from Airport utility.
Like I said, Time capsule can see the device and is backing up to it.

I turned off airport and connected the Mac to the time capsule via ethernet.

It's still backing up but time machine is still not opening.

Try the helps here.

I'd look at E4 first and then A4.
