I have an original Snow Leopard CD somewhere, but I cannot for the life find it or else I'd just reinstall. So I'm asking if there's anyway I can do a total reset of the OS to remove the user name and password?

I bought a second hand MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz but the owner didn't give me the password to the main account so I could install/delete old junk she had laying around. I've tried calling her up, but I just get her answering machine.

So until I can find my OS X disc or until I can "reset" the OS, I'm stuck using the guest account with severely limited access to the MacBook.

Appreciate the help, did do a quick search but couldn't find anything that matched this question.

**Edit**
I found a way to reset the password, for anyone who comes across this post in the future the answer is here: Link

The answer is obvious. Buy a copy of Snow Leopard from either your local Apple Store or Best Buy. Only $29.

First off, there are no local Apple Store (or Best Buy) meaning I have to order online. Secondly, as I've already stated, I already own an Snow Leopard disk. But since I'm still unpacking, I have no clue where it's at. Give me time, and I'll find it.

I'm still interested in any way to unlock the main account or delete it from the system.

Without the Snow Leopard CD you won't be able to do unlock anything..that would hardly be secure if it were allowed..right?

As you can see from my edit in my OP, there is a way. Google yielded several methods. I've now "reset" the password and everything is good to go.
