Hello,

My name is Bart, and i am a happy mac user for about 4 months now.

Only now, the back strip of the hinge on my macbook has started to bulge out.
I went to a Apple store and they said that i must've hit it somewhere(which i didnt, cause mac is expensive), but wouldnt the bump then be inward, and not outward.
(so it would not be under warranty, and i would have to replace my whole screen for it :s )

so my question being, has this happened to anyone before?
is this a common problem?

Thx in advance for the replies

edit: also just noticed that the hinge makes a cracking noise in a few steps, from open to closed it gives like 3-4 clicks, some worse than the other

Peace
Bart

You might wish to go back to the Apple store and ask to speak with the service manager. Be polite and explain what you have stated here and that you did not cause the bump. You might find that they will re-consider replacing the display case under the warranty.
