For some reason when I go to save or import a file under Devices, "desktop" is no longer an option. It shows everything else, HD, all external HDs, etc. but no desktop. anyone know why or how to fix this?

Are you referring to the fact that Desktop no longer shows up under "Places"? If so, simply drag the Desktop folder from your home directory back to the sidebar.

Or you could go to Finder > Preferences and put a check by Desktop.

More importantly than giving you another method to fix the problem is to tell you how it disappeared in the first place. Simply click and drag it from the Sidebar to your Desktop. It will vanish. Now you can try the other method to put it back. ;)

Sometimes you might drag something off accidently without noticing. Or if you have little people or very agile cats, they might do it too.
