My new mac mini will not allow me to connect my VGA monitor, which I had been using on my old mac mini as it was supplied with a DVI to VGA adapter. The new mac mini only came supplied with the power cord and an HDMI to DVI adapter. What adapter do I need to connect my monitor? Also what is the difference between an HDMI port and a mini display port? Thanks in advance for any help.

Switching to new Mac Mini

Many thanks. I did look at this but wasn't sure as some of the reviews said it didn't work. Will get my order in and hopefully that will do the job. Although a senior citizen, I am anxious to learn more about macs.
Thanks again.

That adapter should work for you. If you have any issues, let us know.
