iPad shortage?

Hi
For the last 1 1/2 week I've been looking to buy an IPad; I live near 2 apple stores and bestbuy's but they don't seem to have any. Complaining isn't going to make things better but, I'd like to know why they're so scarce. I live about 40 minutes from Chicago if that makes it helpful.

The iPad 2 is a very popular device and it's hard to find them in stores, you're better off just ordering it from Apple online and having it ship to you..that's what I did..my visits to Best Buy, Target and Walmart always showed a 64GB Verizon version that I wasn't interested in..I just wanted the 16GB WiFi and that's almost impossible to find..
