chrome bits inside Macbook pro

I had accidentally yanked out some headphones from my macbook pro (C2D not unibody) at a weird angle. Upon inspecting the audio jack, it seems like some chrome bits got stripped into the audio port.

Should I be worried of a short circuit or other dangers? I don't know how isolated the audio port is from the rest of the hardware.

Is there actually something missing on the headphone plug? If not it might just be the pieces in the jack that make the connection between the plug and the laptop. Those could possibly be bend back into place with some sort of needle. To make sure, maybe remove the battery before doing this.

As another thought: Did you try to plug the headphones back in? maybe that would push things back into place.

the issue is not the port, its the plug. Some chrome chipped off of the plug into the computer and might be floating around in there, possibly causing a short circuit.

An issue just manifested. The displayy no longer work. Neither does an external display. Coincedence?

That's no good! Either getting it into a store if you have warranty or opening it up yourself to clean things up might be in order!
