i have a late 2009 macbook air , that has a 40w battery, not a 37w, are these interchangeable? as i'm finding it very very difficult to source a 40w one in the uk, and i'm having that terrible issue of the trackpad mucking about- and zapping the pram has stopped working

I'm sure that one of your local Apple stores in the UK will have a replacement battery in stock. However, you might be able to save some money by shopping on line. Amazon.com UK is always a good source to purchase from. Buy a battery that is as good or better than the original and don't settle for a inexpensive "knock off".
