I spilled liquid on my Macbook Pro. I was told I need a new logic board and top case, which would cost almost as much as a new unit. I bought a new one. Will it be possible to transfer files from the damaged one? It seems to start up, but no display.

I'd take the hard disk out, put it in a 2.5" USB enclosure and connect it to your new Mac

Damaged Mac Book

Thanks a lot. I will try that and let you know how I get on. It seems a shame to throw away an 11 months old, thousand quid, shining piece of technology!!!

Sell it 'as-is' for parts. Or claim on your household insurance if you have it.
