quick question here. New to OS X and i want to be able to "go up a level" in the open/save dialogue box, but i can't figure out how to do it and google isn't helping much. I'm certain the functionality must exist, and that I don't have to keep going back to Macintosh HD to get to a different file path.

I have put the "path" button on the finder window and it functions perfectly, but if I want to go from sub directories and navigate to their parent directories i have been going through a cumbersome process.

edit: cmd + up arrow does what i was asking, i just had it mapped to change spaces instead.

Glad to hear you resolved your problem. You can't delete a post, only Staff can do that. And, we really don't want to delete this anyway as others may benefit from it.

Thanks.
