Open in New Tab Pop-Ups

I am a new iMac owner. For the past several weeks I have been unable to open any links because I keep getting the "open in another tab, open in another window" etc little pop-up. Sometimes I can hit the esc key and I can get the link to work. Other times I can just keep clicking on the link and eventually the pop-up goes away, but what a pain! Pop-ups and ads from outside are blocked, as they should be, but I just want to stop these annoying Mac pop-ups. Can anyone help? Thanks.

You are hitting the right-click on links instead of the left-click.
