Canadian Riots

So I didn't realize you calm peaceful Canadians were capable of this:

"hockey fans" are a separate form of canadian.. like angry soccer-school council-moms, ya know?

it still disgusts me though.. People get too absorbed in this kind of nonsense. and people wonder why i don't even care for the sport anymore.

I was trying to find vansmith in the pictures. I think I saw him with a gas can, but I can't be sure.

I find this refreshing. Some real emotion north of the border for once. I suspect at some point the Canadian government will invite Vancouver to become part of Washington state just to disassociate themselves from this kind of behavior.

In all seriousness, that was a disgraceful display. I have absolutely no respect for those fans. It's a hockey game, get over it.

It always amazes me how fans get after big games like this. It's a game get over yourselves.

My wife used to work on a domestic violence hotline for the YWCA as a volunteer. She said the worst day of the week for calls was Sunday nights during football season.

That's terrible. I like sports but I fail to see how a sporting contest is so important that when your teams loses, you feel the need to be violent or destructive.

So, apparently about 100 people have been arrested thus far. News reports also note that the damage to one drug store alone is estimated to be close to a million dollars. Also, apparently two people were stabbed. Oh man...

I know Vancouver well. These were NOT hockey fans. They are malcontents and anarchists who wreak havoc randomly. This was pre-planned for this night, regardless of the game’s result.

I agree, although I would have used the word terrorists. Because that's exactly what they are.

When I was a LEO in Columbus, OH in the 1990's, we always were working double-staffed when Michigan was in town playing the Buckeyes. It was a given there would be some degree of rioting, regardless of the event's outcome. Rioting... err... fans expressing themselves was just a given and taken into account in the yearly budget. It was not uncommon, at the time at least, for businesses in the area to empty their contents beforehand to avoid looting of their inventory, tools, vehicles, etc... (or perpetrate the occasional arson-related insurance scam).

I thought they were rioting because iDisk won't make it into iCloud.
