I have been wanting to learn this for the past year and am at the point now where I will have a good amount of free time over the next few months so would like to invest that in self-teaching myself object-c - as I would like to start creating apps for iphone/ipod.

Can anyone suggest any good books, websites, or online courses that I could look into to teach myself object-C? I appreciate any responses and help.

If you know nothing about software development, then look for beginner books. Start with learning Objective-C, then you can comfortably move on to learning iOS development.

Here are related questions on this very site. They have some leads.

This basic question gets asked almost daily over at the Macrumors.com programmer forums. There are tons of answers over there and even some stickies for the question.
