Hi,

I own a MBP early 2008 15". For a couple of days my battery appears swollen. But looking at the system profiles for battery cycles, it says, battery is normal after 86 cycles. My MBP is nearly 3yrs old. Most of the times I use it connecting to the AC power.

It is still under Apple Care. I wonder, would they replace the battery or I should buy one. In the second case, I seek you suggestion where to buy?

Many thanks in advance for all your insights...:)

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
They probably won't replace the battery free of charge, but, if it's swollen and they decide it's faulty, there is always a chance.
I would take it into an Apple store on the chance.

If it's swollen, and you have Applecare, I'd be willing to bet they'll replace it.

You'll never know until you take it in and let them have a look at it.

And if no Apple near you, maybe take a picture of it to send them.

I agree with bobtomay - my early 2008 MacBook Pro had its battery changed out by Apple twice due to some weirdness with it. And it wasn't anything as bad as it swelling.

Also note that if it's swollen, you really don't want to use it. Just pop it out for the time being until you've had a chance to call AppleCare (that's what I did and they swapped it out with no fuss).
