My 2011 21.5 inch iMac (2.7 GHz with Radeon HD 6770m) gets really hot when I play video games. Should I be worried, or is the back meant to act as a heatsink?

You tell us what "too hot" is...via some actual temperature readings. We cannot judge till we know this.:)

Graphics Processor heatsink 1 say 75 degrees celsius.

THis is all from playing Dragon Age Origins for an hour.

There is nothing wrong with those temps. It is too hot when it shuts itself down.

I can personally attest to what bobtomay said with a recent personal experience. I've seen temperatures go up and down constantly on my MB but never worried about it. About two weeks ago, my MB overheated (combination of high ambient heat and prolonged use) and simply shut down. I gave it a few minutes and all was good.

If it's any consolation, I've seen my MB hit the mid-80s (°C) and still keep going (albeit, it didn't stay there for very long).
