Air venting for MacBookPro

I bought a 13" MacBookPro 10 months ago. I've been "storing" my pencil at the hinge area, just under the "MacBook Pro" labeling. I'm wondering if that area is a vent for air flow; if so, I'll stop keeping my pencil there. TIA.

Two thoughts:

1. I don't think Apple meant that area for pencil storage!
2. If you've been doing this for the past 10 months with no ill effects...then I see no reason to stop!

But if I was forced to say "do it" or "don't do it"...I would say don't do it.

I don't see a pencil really blocking anything. It sits far enough back from the actual vent.

+1! How about if the clamshell on that MBP accidentally shuts or comes down for whatever reason (Murphy's Law) and the pencil gets stuck between the clamshell and the machine? It's probably going to do some damage.
