Ok, so I don't know much about optical ports, never really had any hardware to use them, other than my Mac Pro.
I have a couple receivers and nice set of polk audio speakers that I'd like to hookup to my Mac Pro, instead of the dinky 2.1 system I'm currently using.
The main reason I want to use optical is so I can leave my current set hooked up for when I'm not watching a movie or listening to music. Adium is great, but I don't need it in Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound. ;D
Can I do that with the optical out on my Mac Pro and if so, what size and what type should I get?
Thanks for any help.
