Reanamed user account - old name shows in authentication box

I changed the "long name" of my user account but when I install software the computer still asks for authentication and shows the old name. Using either the old name or new name works for authentication.

Is there a pref file or something I can delete/modify so the old name is not automatically used in the authentication box?

Set up a new Administrator account with what you want, and when all is A OK delete the original.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I dont want to set up a new account, that is over kill. the only thing I want to do is to get rid of the old long name. it must be in a pref file somewhere. thanks
