Last week, at an official Apple Store, I upgraded my ram memory to 8 GB. Initially they had troubles to find the right memory (I purchased my MCP on 2010, so they said it was "old" and they needed a different ram memory than the one they are using right now). It took them almost 2 hours to do the upgrade and still the machine was kind of slow.

Two days ago the machine just died: it did not even turn it on when I push the button.
When it started up again, the following error log appear:

I just want to know if this error is due to hardware, because I live outside of the US and it will take me a while to come back so I can do something. Your help is highly appreciated because the MacBook Pro is still not very fast so I wonder if there is something else I should be looking for.

Thank you!

First - RAM by itself will not speed up a computer. What it helps with is if you run a lot of programs or use programs that use a lot of memory (video editing, high quality photo editing, lots of Virtual Machines) But if it takes you 10 minutes to render a video, and you don't go into swap, then RAM will not decrease the time it takes to render that video.

You could double check and see if the RAM is seated correctly. You could also try to reset NVRAM and PRAM - in case the Apple store forgot to do it.

That looks right for a 2010 MBP. You can check Mactracker - but it seems that they didn't go to 1333 until early 2011.

My DEC 09 MBP has DDR3 4GB 1067 MHz unless thats a typo on the DDR2 there would be a problem.

@TattoedMac, what annotation tools are you using... I don't remember arrows like that in Preview.

Thanks

In the US, I know the mid 2010 mbp uses ddr3, no doubt about it. Could it be
different overseas? the link will show 2009 models also use ddr 3 if i am right.

RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, SSD at Crucial.com

No, the models are consistent in terms of specs and requirements across the board.

I would guess that the Apple Store simply used the wrong type of modules.

Personally, I would take the machine back and make them put the right modules in, or give me a refund.

There are lots of good places to get memory from - and installation is normally very simple.

I understand this is an old thread, but there is a physical difference between DDR2 and DDR3, so this must be a typo.

DDR2 will not physically mount in a DDR3 slot.
