Problem with Mail 2.1.3

I am using OS 10.4.11 and Mail 2.1.3.
recently I have been unable to download new messages from
my Mail server (the Account is POP). I can access new messages from
webmail, and from my Iphone but for some reason Mail will not download new
files after a certain date. I have tried removing the account and setting it up
over again, and was able to download older messages from the server, but none after the particular date. Any suggestions?
