2011 macbook pro 15'" hard drive.

Hey, I will be ordering a new macbook pro soon, mainly for gaming, so there will be allot of games on my computer, as well as school stuff. So i was wondering, for my use, what would be better, the 500 gig 7200 rpm drive or the 750 gig 5400 drive?
And also, just to make sure, if i install windows 7 or xp via bootcamp, will the 2.2 ghz 15 inch macbook pro be able to handle games such as Battlefield Bad company 2.

Sounds like your issue is storage space, not speed...so the larger HD would be better.

But...but...but! What you're saying is you want it all. Then get a 7200rpm 750gig HD:

Sure it will. If you don't have enough HD space (can't fit all your stuff on a 500gig drive)...then you won't even be able to install all your games. If you can't install them...you can't play them!

I meant the speed XD. I realize less space = less games

Here is a 1tb drive that will fit within apples recommended specs for drive sizing. It has not been released yet but hopefully since there is pricing now it wont be long (also kinda expensive for a laptop drive $129). It is also only 5400rpm

Generally drives with higher platter density are faster compared to drives with lower densities of the same rpm. So a 750 5400rpm will make up some but not all of the speed difference between it and a 500gb 7200rpm drive.

For gaming a 5400rpm drive should not effect the performance of the game play but loading screens will be a bit longer.

See thats EXACTLY the answer i was looking for. It wont effect my gaming at all. All i was looking for was a yes or no answer.
