$50 for the server OS? Niiiiice. I might finally be able to dump MAMP Pro.

This is really an awesome price point. Hopefully it'll help Apple make some business inroads. What does Windows Server with a few CALs cost these days?

Scratch that - I missed the 'server' part.

I was looking over the specs for Lion, and noticed that they were including Lion "Server" in the mix for fifty bucks. So, what is the server part of it? In my now two years experience with OSX, I know that it runs on a modified, but full version of BSD Unix. I can make a server out of any OSX machine and have done so many times from the command line. And all kinds of servers - file, video, web, backup, etc, and accessable from both other OS's.

So what do you get with what Apple is calling Lion Server? Administration GUI, I assume? Or maybe just the right to attach to it, in other words, a license pack?

I was under the very… very… distinct impression that both versions of Lion would come on one disc, and you'd pick which version when you installed it. I guess that must be for Macs that ship with Lion since it's only available via the App Store otherwise.

I'm still catching up to some of the days events. Don't want to hijack a thread but this seems relevant. As a home user with one Mac set up as a video/file server is there any reason I should spring fir the Lion Server edition?
