iMovie not importing ANY video filetype.

Okay, so I had an MPG file, that I converted to both mp4 and avi, and iMovie WILL NOT import them no matter what.
Is there any way I can get it to work? All I want to do is cut the file into smaller pieces to upload on youtube. It's 40 minutes long, so I can't do it online.

The program I used to convert it was Kigo Video Converter, and it came off of my video camera. I no longer have the files on the camera.

H264 files are not ideal for editing. Try MPEGStreamclip with your original file, and export to Quicktime using the Apple Intermediate Codec option. iMovie should take that OK.
