Folks:
First, thanks for all the great advice. This site has been most helpful for a new Mac user.
Here is my question: I'm using dual layer disks, thus I have 8 Gig capacity. If I download some 8mm videos, say 2 or 3 tapes, and on the default setting I exceed the capacity (i.e. best performance), I can then switch to Best quality and get a whole lot more capacity, almost 4 gig more. In other words, a set of movies from IMovie under Best Performance was equal to 8.4 gig--to much to burn, when I switched to Best Quality the same movies showed up as 4.5 gig. What is going on? That appears backwards, or at least the logic does. I'd think best quality would be larger files.
Can someone please explain?
Also, if the above is true, then wouldn't a longer video under best quality be lower quality since it is cramming more into the disk (higher compression), thus I'd want to keep my movies small under best quality?
I hope the above makes sense.
