Hey

Today I tried to conect my external monitor (HP Compaq LA2405wg). However, it wasn't recognized by my Macbook Pro. I used Mini-DVI to VGA adapter and I tried everything: rebooting macbook with monitor connected, Detect Display in display menu, detect source in monitor's menu, trying to do that simultaneously but nothing solved that.

Is there anyone who experienced something like that and/or knows the solution? When I connect the adapter it looks like it is working normally when I connect it to my mac (the screen kinda flashes to only blue screen and back, cannot describe it better :D ) but I haven't try it with another monitor.

Moved to correct forum.

It sounds like you're using the wrong adapter. (You said Mini-DVI to VGA)

Which model MacBook Pro do you have? Unless it's an older model, it should have a mini display port connector. That means using a mini display port adapter to VGA or mini display port adapter to DVI if your HP monitor has a DVI input.
